As Orlando Health staff experience a paradigm shift going from paper records to a fully digital and integrated platform, the interior spaces of the Ellie training center sought to capture that same sense of shifting paradigms. The design team was tasked with creating a unique and energetic space in a converted warehouse on the downtown Orlando campus. The concept was expressed in the open shared spaces by striking lines that intersect in bold lines and shapes created with illuminated ceiling soffits, flooring patterns and furnishings. Echoing the entrepreneurial spirit of a tech start up was also important to help staff feel like they are part of something cutting edge, unique and transformative. The design team decided to keep the industrial qualities of the converted warehouse exposed with a dark neutral palette as a foundation. Bright color accents enliven and energize while also defining spaces and providing wayfinding queues to the training rooms. The training rooms tie in themed vintage artwork to encourage participation from staff in the final stages of design and promote Orlando Health’s important ties to its Central Florida roots. The communal spaces are located near natural light and views to the exterior landscaping to provide spaces of respite between learning modules.
