Orlando International Airport – Board Room

Orlando, Florida

  • 18,000 sq. ft.
  • Excellence in Construction Award – 2002 General Contractor Winner
  • IIDA Forum Design Award
  • Associated Architect: Schenkel Shultz Architecture

“To create a space where one of the world’s fastest growing airports embraces the public and to empower its decision makers with state of the art technological integration and an impressive sense of place.”

Although not publicly funded by tax dollars, it is important for the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority to express solidarity and longevity without excess. The design team specified materials that embody quality in a palette that enhances the guests “Florida Experience.”  There is understated elegance achieved through careful design and detail.

In the boardroom, the client’s imperative was to optimize technology, to maintain a working atmosphere for the board, and a feeling of intimacy with guests regardless of their number. The form of the boardroom is the resultant of the relationship between board members, presenters and public and this comfortable relationship is key to the acclaimed success of this important community gathering space.
