Ramski & Company worked closely with Rhodes + Brito Architects and key WKMG staff to design a phased 46,000 sq. ft. renovation for this Central Florida premier television station.

The design reorganization occurred while the station was operating (July 2013 – July 2015). On the first floor the new assignment desk is the heart of the new newsroom. The creative service group has been integrated to work seamlessly with the news team. A variety of collaboration spaces have been designed to make spot filming “live from the newsroom” a more important part of news coverage.

On the second floor there is an extensive use of glazing to encourage collaborations by visual connection and spread natural light deep into the spaces. Spaces have been created to accommodate whole group meetings, workshops, staff training, and the editing/preview center has become more accessible.

WKMG Local 6 has a new interior that is bright, transparent, collaborative, technically and spatially flexible, and highly functional for the foreseeable future. That’s good news.
